ITV to bid for 5?
April 27, 2010
Weekend press speculation has it that Adam Crozier, newly installed CEO at ITV, could be contemplating a bid for Channel 5.
Gerhard Zeiler, chief executive of Five’s parent company, RTL, said a few weeks ago: “To take part in the consolidation, as I’m 100% sure Five will, is a valuable asset. So it is the right decision and in the interests of shareholders to stay in the [UK] market.” Tantamount to inviting offers and it seems that Five’s future lies as part of another media group. Channel Four and Five called off merger talks last year.
