Digital TV expands in Hungary

Hungary’s 14 biggest cable, satellite and IPTV companies had 2,489,000 subscribers at the end of December, 17,000 more than a month earlier, the National Telecommunications Office (NHH) has revealed.
Magyar Telekom, Invitel, UPC, FiberNet, DIGI, PR TELEKOM, Zelka, TARR, TvNetWork, ViDaNet, PARISAT, RubiCom, Antenna Hungaria and HD Platform control 80-85 per cent of the pay television market in Hungary.
Digital television subscribers accounted for 45.8 per cent of the companies’ total number of subscribers, up from 45.2 per cent a month earlier. The number of digital cable TV subscribers rose 15,000 to 389,000, while the number of IPTV subscribers climbed 8,000 to 752,000.
