Abertis launches Internet TV platform
October 24, 2009
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spanish broadcasting services provider Abertis Telecom, along with Microsoft, is launching an Internet TV platform to distribute DTT channels.
The platform will follow the model of Hulu.com. All broadcasters are negotiating to include their TV content on the platform as a way to exploit a new business opportunity as 42 per cent of Spanish Internet users claim to watch TV through the computer.
The platform has an EPG allowing viewers direct access to content via streaming or P2P.
