Disney into Hulu?
March 30, 2009
US press reports say Disney is considering an equity stake in Hulu and distributing its content via the News Corp / NBC Universal service. It is thought Disney would want a 30% stake, reducing the existing network shareholders and maybe buying out Providence the private equity firm that has 10%.
Such a deal would see America's top network join the online service – Disney/ABC currently 9 of the 10 top rated prime time shows on network TV. Hulu had 34.7m viewers accessed the site in February, up 42% on January.
