Oz government seeks to boost DTV take-up
Australian Communications Minister Stephen Conroy says restrictions on televised sports will be reviewed in an effort to encourage the Conroy stated the success of digital television depended on changes to sport broadcasting rules, and the rule that bans major sporting events from being broadcast on any digital channels that the three networks can launch next year will be reviewed.
He added the government would complete a funding plan by the end of the year under which needy Australians would get financial help to replace analogue TV sets, addressing worries viewers would not be prepared for the analogue switch-off deadline of 2013.
