Athelia III in new receiver launch
December 2001 - January 2002

Laurent Jabiol, AT-SKY Managing Director and co-founder of Athelia III - Voie Atlas I in France describes his company's operations as one instance of what the n-VOD will look like in France.

"Basically, we have developed a unique break-through satellite plug-n-play PC Receiver. We are about to launch it massively in France. It will be sold for a once off price of less than $120, and be bundled with a totally free WebTV Bouquet combining 250 micro channels as well as 75 genuine TV Channels and over 100 radio channels in digital stereo format."

The proposed service is planned to be launched together with Astra, a leading Satellite Operator in France. It will potentially reach the 2.7 million French households which already have their dish already pointed on Astra Satellite.

"Our idea is to start proposing, alongside the free multimedia Bouquet, a genuine Content Delivery Network for impulse content purchasing and pay-per-view (typically n-VOD, games, software on-demand, etc). We have key patented Technologies for conditional access, copy protection and payment mechanisms which secure the content."
