Mediacom selects Concurrent
December 2001 - January 2002

Mediacom Communications Corp, a US cable television operator, has selected Concurrent Computer Corp to provide video-on-demand and interactive TV services to its digital cable subscribers. Mediacom plans to introduce VOD applications before the end of this year.

Mediacom will use Concurrent's MediaHawk VOD system to provide digital VOD movies with enhanced TV functionality such as pause, rewind, fast-forward, as well as other on-demand interactive applications. The Concurrent system will be deployed on the Motorola DCT-2000 digital platform and will be the first VOD launch on Motorola's National Authorisation Service.

Mediacom Communications is the eighth largest cable television operator in the United States, with cable systems passing approximately 2.6 million homes and serving approximately 1.6 million basic subscribers in 23 states.
