delighted to provide space for non-commercial organisations - which we believe are of benefit to the industry - to promote their activities for free on the site. The UK's Interactive Forum clearly falls into that category, hence:

What is the Interactive Forum?

The Interactive Forum is the leading interactive TV industry body in the UK. Nearly 300 companies have already expressed interest, with many actively involved. The membership base is open to anyone within the interactive TV community, including client companies, traditional advertising and digital agencies, research firms, INTV platforms, INTV production houses ad consultancies.

The forum meets monthly to discuss progress and activity in the following five tenants:

Lobbying and Representation -
Working together and with government to ensure that the regulations formulated for our industry protect the consumer, while still ensuring a viable economic environment for INTV. We also work with other industry bodies to enable best practice and cohesion.

Education and Training-
Identifying the commercial and academic training and educational needs, and then rectifying those deficiencies through IF sponsored events and government and academic initiatives. We will also invite featured speakers to our monthly events, and hold a series of seminars and conferences throughout the year.

Trade Relations-
Keeping open communication with trade organisations associated with the industry.

Commercial issues and modelling-
Reviewing existing media and content models and trying to foster an understanding of new models more appropriate for the evolving market.

Networking-
Creating opportunities for companies and individuals to meet in a more focused environment. We will use a virtual venue, through the web site, and physical events to ensure that members can get together. The general forum base meets the third Thursday of each month, while dedicated task forces meet more regularly on their remit area.

There are also task groups that are in the process of forming to allow smaller groups of IF members to tackle issues hands-on. The following task groups are beginning to meet and involvement from other members is welcomed:

Training
Legislation and Lobbying
Creative and Content
Commercial models for INTV advertising

These groups have had their preliminary meetings and have defined their objectives, which will be posted in detail on the site. Generally, the groups will be focusing on creating learning seminars, qualitative consumer and advertiser research, proposals to government regarding training funds and INTV legislation, and lastly developing collective views on commercial models for the emerging industry.
