We invite you, our readers and friends along to what we believe will be a lively and essential panel discussion for anyone with an interest in the German market. It's a truly interactive debate in which top German Media figures from industry and government will discuss and answer questons on the way ahead for German digitisation and convergence, who will pay, and whether the country really is open to outside investment in its media - given the regulatory obstruction received by Liberty Media's planned acquistion of Deutsche Telekom cable assests, and the political opposition to Rupert Murdoch's possible involvement in any Kirch buy-out. Come along and take part in this FREE high level summit.
Our distinguished panellists will include:
Walter Neuhauser,
CEO of the RTL channel's advertising broker IP-Deutschland GmbH
Wolfram
Winter, Managing Director of Universal's German digital channel subsiduary
Universal Studios Network Germany GmbH
Stefan Koenigfeld, Managing Director Prima-TV GmbH

| IBM | Stand: F10 |
Yesterday, the
television was just for watching. Today, the world is
changing - fast. The TV spectator is now a player, using his TV as a
gateway to receive rich media content from traditional suppliers and
new electronic sources, including the web, video-on-demand and local
services. And the game has only just begun.
IBM Microelectronics will be showing how IBM is helping accelerate this
movement on Booth F10 at Mediacast And customers who have adopted IBM's
core-enabling technologies, such as IBM's digital set-top box integrated
controllers, will be demonstrating just what benefits they are bringing
to this new age of television.
As digital TV takes off, suppliers will show how they are using IBM's
PowerPC set-top box controllers to launch multi-media home platforms
(MHP), personal video recorders and equip digital terrestrial as well as
satellite and cable systems to deliver rich media content and build new
revenue streams.
In a recent New York Times article, Jerry Levin, CEO of AOL / Time
Warner, said: "everything, every movie, every written piece of
paper...will ultimately be delivered on demand."
This market is projected to reach $34B by 2004, growing at 53% CAGR. To
succeed in this changing digital arena, companies will need technologies
providing greater network bandwidth, faster processing, lots of storage
and secure and reliable systems management - all the things that IBM is
good at delivering.
IBM leads the industry with core-enabling technologies like MPEG4,
security watermarking, digital content distribution and management,
video application platforms, microelectronics, and multi-network
distribution capabilities.
Senior IBM executives, such as Steve Canepa, Vice President of Marketing
& Strategies for IBM's Media & Entertainment Group, and Eric Tsou,
General Manager of IBM Microelectronics' Digital Video Products Group,
backed by a team of specialists, will be on hand to discuss the
solutions designed to help customers harness and build on IBM's
resources and core assets in e-business.
